STARGAZER INFORMATION:
Calhoun County Park is one of the darkest places on the East Coast and is a favorite staging point for stargazers from far and wide.  Light shows in the sky are commonplace in this uncommonly beautiful, dark and quiet place.

We were fortunate enough recently to have Brian Ottum, PhD. as a guest at the park during a stargazing event.  Dr. Ottum was kind enough to allow the local Boy Scouts to visit for an educational experience which assisted the scouts in obtaining their astronomy badges.  We look forward to future visits and appreciate his encouragement in applying for "Dark Sky" status.  Brian took quite a few pictures and even got to shoot a Civil War era rifle, but most importantly, he got to wish upon the stars.  Click here for some of the photos taken during his stay.

It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.  It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.
